Chinese New Year celebrations are a cracker

A number of Genting Casino venues are located in the heart of vibrant Chinatowns.

Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Sheffield and Southend are just some of our casinos that have a loyal Chinese following and Chinese New Year is a time of year they all look forward to. Each casino goes the extra mile to celebrate this special festival that is always a fun and relaxed occasion.

And this year’s festivities have been no exception with traditional celebrations laid on to welcome in the Year of the Sheep, also known as the Year of the Goat or Ram.

From colourful Lion Dances, to traditional singers and dancers, Chinese themed buffets and ‘lucky money’ prize draws, the New Year celebrations were a big hit with their local communities.

Liverpool boasts the oldest Chinese community in Europe making them extra special. Genting Casino Renshaw Street, Liverpool’s General Manager, Martin Sears, said: “Our Chinese New Year celebrations are a major highlight for the casino and our customers. We always attract a big crowd and go the extra mile every year to throw a party for the local Chinese community that makes it a night to remember.”

Another casino that always throws a popular Chinese New Year party is Birmingham Chinatown. General Manager, Julie Eden, said: “Our Chinese celebrations are a real highlight. We are the only casino in Chinatown and have strong links with the Chinese community so it’s only natural that we embrace and celebrate this special festival.”

Genting Casino Glasgow attracted more than 1,300 guests and General Manager, Rob Marshall, added: “We have a large Chinese customer base and as Chinese New Year is the most important festival in the calendar, these evenings are very popular with a great atmosphere and a real sense of excitement.

“It provides us with an opportunity to give something back and invite leading members of the Chinese community to join in our celebrations.”

More than 5,000 members of the Chinese community will have taken part in Genting’s Chinese celebrations which demonstrates the company’s commitment to engaging with the customers it serves.
