Genting Club Westcliff raises £2000 for Children in Need at exclusive launch event

Genting Club Westcliff officially opened its doors on Thursday 15th November to welcome VIP guests from across the county.  The Worshipful the Mayor of Southend, Councillor Sally Carr cut the ribbon along with Peter Brooks, President and Chief Operating Officer of Genting Casinos UK, Paul Willcock Managing Director of Genting Casinos UK and Simon Woodford, General Manager of Genting Club Westcliff, to celebrate the club’s multi million pound transformation. The club also staged a second official launch event for customers on Friday 16th November which was attended by stars of The Only Way is Essex past and present and raised funds for Children in Need.

The new-look casino hosted its VIP launch event on Thursday and guests were entertained by a magician and a variety of singers including Becky Dellar, Char and Josh Dubovie. A flash mob of harmonising singers also captured guest’s attention throughout the evening when they spontaneously burst into song. Later, guests were entertained by Heart FM award-winning singer Tony Roberts. Guests included Sir Teddy Taylor, Mark François MP (Rayleigh & Wickford), David Ames MP (Southend West), James Duddridge MP (Southend East), Mo Larkin (Mayor of Basildon), Cllr Longley, Cllr Holland, Cllr Garston, Cllr Foster and Cllr Jarvis.

Friday’s official public launch event didn’t fail to live up to the previous evening. One lucky Heart FM winner Sophie Wass enjoyed a meal with some of the stars of The Only Way is Essex from past and present.  James ‘Arg’ Argent, Gemma Collins, Amy Childs and Harry Derbidge and winner Sophie sampled a delicious three course meal from the club’s new Fahrenheit Grill menu.

Throughout the evening, a free prize draw was run where lucky finalists entered the ‘cash cube’ to collect tickets to be in with a chance of winning some fabulous prizes. Adelighted Marie Sinclair from Rayleigh won the competition and walked away with £5000 worth of Thomas Cook holiday vouchers to spend on their dream holiday. Theresa Libby from Thundersley won the second prize of a Home Entertainment Centre and third prize went to Sam Jones from Convey who was thrilled to win two tickets to watch tickets to Champions League Arsenal v Montpellier.

Later in the evening, Harry Derbidge of TOWIE fame entered the cash cube, which had been filled with £10 notes, and was given 30 seconds to collect as much money as possible for Children in Need. He collected £1650 and the Genting Club rounded up the donation to £2000.

Singers including Tony Roberts, winner of Heart FM’s Next Big Thing, Charlotte Awberry and Wills Childs entertained guests throughout the evening whilst Gemma Collins, Harry Derbidge and Amy Childs took to the dance floor.

We were also pleased to see so many new faces who gave fantastic feedback on our new-look look club. We are very proud of the developments and are looking forward to being the place to be in Essex.’

The multi million pound investment in the Genting Club has resulted in the creation of 25 additional positions covering both gaming and leisure roles.

The Genting Club has been transformed and now includes the Fahrenheit Bar and Grill; a premium restaurant and eye-catching 360 degree bar, new gaming facilities and games, a modernised poker room now overlooking the Thames Estuary, a new dedicated entertainment area with performance stage. The club has a packed schedule of free live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night in the run up to Christmas.
