Major refurb underway at Genting Club Reading

New-look Club will deliver a ‘premium leisure destination’ for Berkshire and surrounding area

Genting Club Reading is to undergo a major transformation as a result of a multi million pound refurbishment. The casino, which has been operating from its Richfield Avenue location for 25 years, is being completely updated with the addition of new facilities, which include a new premium restaurant and contemporary bar and lounge area, private VIP booths and a new dedicated entertainment area with performance stage.
The new-look Club will also feature interactive touch-tables, where customers can learn-to-play as well as take part in other games, an improved poker area and an updated gaming floor with a variety of casino games including Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat, Mahjong and electronic slot machines.
The Club will also be transformed from the outside, with full length glass panelling at the front to help make the Club more visually welcoming and an expanded outdoor patio area to the side.
The new restaurant, Fahrenheit Grill, will offer a high quality menu in relaxed, contemporary surroundings. The restaurant name is inspired by the unique charcoal fired ‘Josper grills’ which can reach temperatures of 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit and will be used in the preparation of some of the dishes. The barbecue cooking method ensures flavours and juices are locked in to the ingredients to create a superior taste experience, a feature which will be particularly significant when cooking the 28-day dry aged ‘Mathers Black Gold’ steaks from the menu.
The Fahrenheit Bar will provide one of the most stylish and sophisticated drinking venues available in the area, offering a range of cocktails and an extensive list of quality wines by the glass and bottle.
The investment will create up to 15 new jobs in the local area, as new employees will be appointed to meet the demands of the venue’s extended offering.
General Manager of Genting Club Reading, Jimmy Howard, said: “This investment is a hugely exciting development for us in Reading. The improvement in the facilities will be fantastic and all of the staff are very excited about the project. We love the fact that the entertainment, bar and restaurant areas will be visible externally, and the changes to our food and drink offers are superb.  The Fahrenheit Bar and Grill will be a destination in their own right and we look forward to demonstrating to our existing and also new customers that visiting the Genting Club Reading is not just about gambling; it is about experiencing a super night out, sampling exceptional food and enjoying the unique ambience a casino can offer.”
The Club, which recently started trading 24 hours a day, will remain open throughout the refurbishment, which is due to be completed before the end of the year.

Paul Willcock, managing director for Genting UK’s provincial estate, said: “I am very much looking forward to seeing the plans for Reading come to life when the project is completed later this year. This refurbishment is going to transform Genting Club Reading in to a premium leisure destination for Berkshire and the surrounding area, with a restaurant and bar, and of course the gaming facilities, to rival the very best that the region has to offer .”
