Resorts World Birmingham at the NEC moves closer with appointment of Galliford Try

Coming Soon

Genting UK is pleased to announce that it has appointed Galliford Try plc, one of the UK’s leading housebuilding and construction groups, as contractor for Genting UK’s £125m leisure and entertainment complex, Resorts World Birmingham at the NEC.

Work will commence on site in October with completion expected in January 2015. It is anticipated that 1750 full time equivalent jobs will be created during the lifetime of the construction phase.

Resorts World Birmingham at the NEC will be one of the largest integrated leisure and entertainment complexes to be developed in the UK and will consist of a casino, 176 bed four/five star hotel, a factory outlet centre, cinema, conference facilities to be operated by the NEC Group and a range of food and beverage outlets.  When fully operational, Resorts World will create over 1100 full time equivalent jobs. This development represents a major investment by Genting UK into Solihull.

Resorts World Birmingham at the NEC will make a significant contribution to the local economy estimated to generate £25m in added value per annum. It is an important component in delivering the NEC’s Destination NEC strategy to provide a 24/7 offer to visitors and delegates to the site and to enhance visitor attractions at the campus. This development will be Genting’s first Resorts World complex to be opened in the UK and Europe and will join a number of highly successful Resorts World complexes located across the world.

Commenting on the appointment of Galliford Try, Peter Brooks President and Chief Operating Officer of Genting UK said;

Galliford Try Chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald said;
