Bake off fun for cancer charity at Southampton casino
Get ready, set, bake! Charity minded colleagues at a Southampton casino are taking on the challenge of creating tasty treats in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team at Genting Club Terminus Terrace swapped playing cards for recipe cards for their Bake Off fun competition on Monday 17 October in the first of three fundraisers for the charity. The enthusiastic bakers paid a pound to submit their cakes for judging, with prizes for the best efforts.
On Wednesday 19 October the casino hosted a traditional tea party in its restaurant complete with china cups, finger sandwiches, cakes and scones to raise money for the cause.
The following day a less formal affair was planned where customers could buy homemade cakes and also have a chance to win a cake if they guessed the weight correctly.
Aran Catozzi, Gaming and Marketing Manager, said: “The staff wanted to do something in memory of a dear colleague who sadly lost her battle with cancer in February this year and Macmillan Cancer Support was the obvious choice.
“It’s a chance for us to raise money, have some fun and show off the baking skills of the team here. We hope people will support our events as it is a cause that is close to our hearts.”
