Bolton casino goes for gold to aid hospice
A Bolton casino is to stage a special golden anniversary celebration which will also strengthen its community links with a local hospice.
Genting Casino on Higher Bridge Street will raise funds for Bolton Hospice in a charity auction to be held during its Big Party on Saturday 15 August to mark 50 years of Genting.
The venue is also entering a ten-strong team in the Bolton Hospice 5K Colour Run where it will sponsor the yellow paint station in keeping with its golden theme. Other colleagues will be there to throw yellow powdered paint over the fun runners in the event on Sunday 30 August in Queens Park.
Genting’s party night will encourage guests to support the hospice by bidding in a charity auction. The casino has donated two tickets with hospitality for the Manchester United v Southampton match and local businesses will also provide items.
Marketing advocate Alan Warwick said: “We wanted to do something to celebrate 50 years of Genting and support a good cause too. Bolton Hospice does such amazing work to provide specialist care and support for people in our community who have life-limiting illnesses.”
The evening will feature a fun competition with golden balloons being popped to reveal prizes and a DJ playing hit songs from the past 50 years.
The winners of a free prize draw will also be announced during the event. The top prize is a stay at Resorts World Birmingham, a £150 million development which is the UK’s first integrated destination leisure complex and opens later this year
It is 50 years since Genting’s founder Tan Sri Lim was inspired to create a hill resort during a visit to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. Genting casinos around the UK are holding special events for the anniversary.
