Glasgow casino recalls golden memories
A Glasgow casino will turn the clock back for a nostalgic party night on Saturday 15 August to celebrate a 50 years anniversary.
Genting Casino in Sauchiehall Street will recall the days of 1965 as staff dress in 60s inspired outfits and serve cocktails with an umbrella and cherry in. The party will also pay tribute to the building’s heritage as the former Locarno dance hall and have music from the past five decades to bring back memories.
Marketing advocate Jamie Tainsh said: “The event is part of our fun activities to celebrate 50 years of Genting. All are welcome to join us.”
The winners of a free prize draw for the anniversary will be announced on Tuesday 18 August. The top prize is a stay at Resorts World Birmingham, a £150 million development which is the UK’s first integrated destination leisure complex and opens later this year.
It is 50 years since Genting’s founder Tan Sri Lim was inspired to create a hill resort during a visit to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. Genting casinos around the UK are holding special events for the anniversary.
