Renato plays winning hand to claim casino dealer of the year title
A Birmingham man has been recognised as the UK’s best dealer after winning Genting Casinos’ Dealer of the Year Competition.
Renato Harvey, aged 34,beat off stiff competition from ten other dealers in the final at Genting International Casino at Resorts World Birmingham to claim the title, £500 and a cruise for two.
The event recognises the most talented and skilled dealers from more than 40 of the company’s casinos nationwide.
Renato, who only joined the company in May, is based at the new Genting International Casino. He said: “I’ve worked in the industry for 15 years, so I was able to use all my experience and personality in the final. It’s the first time I’ve had such success at a national level and it was an amazing experience to win.”
Mark Brennan, of Genting Club Westcliff in Southend, was runner-up and Adam Udall, a colleague at Genting International Casino, came third.
Lynda Atkinson, head of social responsibility at Genting Casinos, said: “We have some highly talented people and this competition gives us a chance to recognise and celebrate dealers who are at the top of their game. Renato is a worthy winner. He is very polite and approachable, has great technical ability and engages well with customers.”
Seventy casino dealers competed in regional heats and 11 made the final. They were judged on their style, accuracy and procedures in dealing American Roulette and Blackjack, together with various exercises all against the clock.
