Southend casino hosts memorable celebration
A Southend casino hosted one of its most memorable party nights to celebrate a golden anniversary and has more big nights lined up.
Staff at Genting Club Westcliff wore fun 1960s-inspired gear and Jersey Boys tribute act The Other Guys entertained to mark 50 years of Genting. “It was a fantastic night, the atmosphere was brilliant with a mix of age groups enjoying themselves,” said General Manager Simon Woodford.
One local customer had further reason to celebrate. He won a stay at Resorts World Birmingham, the £150 million leisure development which opens later this year, in a free prize draw.
Simon added: “It was a fitting way to mark the anniversary. We’re looking forward to more big nights thanks to a programme of entertainment we have organised to appeal to a wide range of people.”
East 17, featuring Robbie Craig will take to the stage on Sunday 30 August, with tribute show The Magic of the Bee Gees returning on Saturday 5 September. On Friday 16 October ‘Frankly’ Sinatra will be live at the venue and on Saturday 28 November, Aswad will perform their reggae hits.
Genting casinos around the UK are holding special activities as it is 50 years since Genting’s founder Tan Sri Lim was inspired to create a hill resort during a visit to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia.
